2018-12-12
Abstract
Orderpicking, the process of retrieving customer orders from their storagelocations, is the most critical operation in a warehouse. Any under performancein order picking can lead to unsatisfactory service and high operational costfor the warehouse, and consequently for the whole supply chain in which thecompany operates. In this talk I will discuss several stochastic models for theperformance evaluation of order picking systems. These models adequatelydescribe and predict the consequences of variability on the performance ofthese warehousing systems. Furthermore, I will cover further researchdirections in the field of material handling.
